The Holy Land Series was created to remember God's promise to Abraham and all of mankind: "Because you acted as you did in not withholding from me your son, your only one, I will bless you and make your descendants as countless as the stars of the sky and the sands of the seashore." Gen 22:16-17
Later, God Himself will testify to His own Word: As represented by the Dove and Crystal (Holy Spirit) above the Cross of the Holy Land Rosary:
"After Jesus was baptized, He came up from the water, and behold, the Heavens were opened [for Him], and he saw the Spirit of God descend like a dove [and] coming upon him. And a voice came form the Heavens, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." Matt 4:16-17
The center used for the Holy Land Series is a Sand Dollar because of its significant features attesting to Christ's birth, death, and the Holy Eucharist: on one side we see the "Star"- as Christ on the cross- with four wounds on the hands and feet, and a drop of blood from His Sacred Heart as the spear wounds Him; the reverse is etched with the Poinsettia flower, whose center is a star, reminding us of Jesus' birth at Bethlehem, and the star which called both shepherds and Kings to adore Him. As the shell is broken open, five "doves" appear: as at Mass, the Catholic priest breaks the Holy Eucharist and calls the faithful to share in the Summit of Love: the Paschal Banquet and the riches of Jesus' own Body and Blood - His true Presence- is poured out and consumed by the faithful-the loving Sacrifice of God's only Son finally sees its fruition- the Gift foreshadowed so long ago in Abraham's sacrifice of his only son.
